We know that lots of children are nervous, or perhaps terrified, of going to the dentist. Kids often hate anyone else poking around in their mouth. Yet regular dental care is critical if your child is going to maintain optimal oral health and an attractive smile.
If your child is anxious about their dental trips, we have excellent news for you. Evergreen Pediatric Dentistry provides two methods for dental sedation. Because we don’t use a one-size-fits-all method, we offer two options. There are various kinds of pediatric patients with various needs and concerns. Our team will gladly discuss both sedation options with you and your child and help you decide which one will best match their needs. Our two options are:
- Inhalation Sedation With Laughing Gas – Your child will breathe in a sweet-smelling gas that will immediately give them an all-over feeling of lightness. They’ll relax instantly and will not stress over dentistry.
- General Anesthesia – A medical anesthesiologist will administer this type of sedation, meticulously monitoring your child and making changes as needed during their treatment. Your child won’t experience any of the sensations of their treatment, and they won’t remember anything about it later.
In addition to dental sedation, we’re proud to feature The Wand®, which we use for local anesthesia. Unlike conventional local anesthesia that utilizes a big syringe, The Wand® is computer-controlled to slowly deliver the anesthesia.
The result is pain-free anesthesia without a big scary syringe that can give kids nightmares. Plus, this system numbs no more than a single tooth, so your child will not be stuck with part of their face numb for hours after their treatment.
